NDO – A Vietnamese delegation led by Secretary General of the Vietnam Banks Association Nguyen Toan Thang joined more than 500 delegates to attend the 22nd ASEAN Banking Conference which opened in Phnom Penh on November 25.

The event themed “ASEAN Connectivity 2025 – A brave New World of Digital Innovation for ONE ASEAN Banking Sector”, was jointly held by the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA).

Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, Chea Chanto, appreciated the strong development of the banking sector in Cambodia and ASEAN over the past years. He emphasised that the modernisation of financial infrastructure and creative technologies in the area has helped increase the effectiveness of financial services for 600 million people in ASEAN region.

ABC Chairman and President of Cambodia’s ACLEDA Bank, In Channy, said that cooperation within ASEAN helps ABA members to learn from each other and compete equally to promote economic growth and social development of all ASEAN member countries.

Speakers will deliver speeches on urgent topics at this conference, particularly digitalisation and financial technology (fintech), cybersecurity, blockchain and digital transfer in the banking sector and financial services.

As part of the conference on November 26-27, the 49th meeting of the ASEAN Banking Council exclusively for ABA members will be held. This is the first time Cambodia has hosted the ASEAN Banking Conference, an event held every two years between ASEAN member countries.
