Myanmar earned US$2.2 billion from garment export during the six-month transitional period which started in April this year, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday, October 10.

Myanmar has changed its fiscal year period from original April-March to October-September beginning 2018-2019, producing a six-month transitional gap.

The value of garment export during six months saw an increase by US$1 billion, compared to the same period in last fiscal year 2017-2018.

The country's garment is mostly exported to Japanese and European markets as well as China, the Republic of Korea and the United States.

In last FY 2017-2018, the country earned about US$2.5 billion from garment exports.

There are over 400 garment factories with more than 300,000 workers in the industry.
