Myanmar's sea trade reaches over US$11 bln from Oct. to mid-March

Myanmar's trade with foreign countries through sea route reached over US$11.05 billion as of March 15 in the current fiscal year 2018-2019 starting in October last year, according to Myanmar's Commerce Ministry on March 30.

During this period, Myanmar's maritime export hit over US$4.2 billion while its import reached US$6.85 billion.

The figure decreased by about US$100 million compared to the same period of the last FY 2017-2018 which showed over US$11.15 billion.

During the period, the country's total foreign trade registered over US$15.51 billion with US$4.46 billion' border trade, according to the ministry's figures.

The country mainly exports agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products while imports capital goods, intermediate goods, consumer goods and products using Cutting, Making and Packing (CMP) system.
