NDO – The International Labour Organisation (ILO) convened its annual conference in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 10. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the organisation.

The event gathers more than 40 heads of government and state, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The conference runs until June 21 and will consider the adoption of a landmark ILO Centenary Declaration on the future of work and workplace harassment.

ILO Director-General Guy Ryder said that the ILO Centenary Declaration will answer the questions brought about by new technologies as well as climate change, migration and globalisation.

He stressed that the presence of many world leaders at the conference showed the significance of the event.
