A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted South Indian Ocean at 2240 GMT on Monday (August 12), the US Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 29.1073 degrees south latitude and 96.8474 degrees east longitude.

* Russia will soon ratify the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea signed by Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan last year, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Monday.
